How to Fix Outlook Error Code 0x80070021 in Windows 10/8/7?

Outlook is an important email client provided by Microsoft and it is largely used to send and receive emails. If you are a regular user of Outlook, you might know that this email client can encounter several errors from time to time. One such error is Outlook error code 0x80070021 that you may face in Windows 10/8/7. This error can arise when you try to copy or create a backup of your PST file to any other location. Also the error message states: ‘The process cannot access the file because another process has blocked a portion of the file’. You will need a PST repair tool to fix this problem.



Another cause of this problem can be any software that uses some features of Outlook is running in the background. Here are some other causes that may be responsible for facing Outlook error 0x80070021:
·       Hardware Problems: When you are unable to store or transfer data of your PST file, this can corrupt the PST file and may cause data loss leading to Outlook error 0x80070021.
·       Network Device Failure- There are chances that your PST file exist on network server and you try to access it using your client computer. The errors in some network hardware like routers, cards, hubs or other errors can make your PST file damaged or corrupt.
·       Sudden Power Failure- While accessing your email client and checking PST file, there can be sudden power failure that can make your PST go corrupt. 
·       Failure of Data Storage Device- When your hard disk has bad sectors and if your PST files are stored on that bad sectors, you will start getting the error 0x80070021.

To get rid of the Outlook error 0x80070021, you will be required to Repair PST file and you can apply the steps given below to fix the error:

1.  Using Task Manager

·       Press Ctrl + Alt +Delete as it will launch the Task Manager.
·     Under the Processes tab, search for applications such as
Outlook.exe or other applications using Outlook features.
·  Now, right-click on the process and then select ‘End process’.

2.           Using Restore Point
  •    First, you need to log into your system as an Administrator.
  • Click Start, go to ‘All Programs’, select ‘Accessories’, then
  • ‘System Tools’ and finally click on ‘System Restore’. 
  • From the options, select ‘Restore my computer to an earlier time’.   
  • Select the latest system restore option under the option, ‘On this
  • list, click a restore point’ and then click Next.      
  • Click ‘Next’ on the confirmation window.
  • After the restoration process is over, restart the system.







3.           Outlook PST Repair tool 

     If the above methods don’t work for you, you can use Recovee Outlook PST Repair tool as that will repair and recover all your corrupted PST files and will fix the error as well. You just need to download the tool and click on the ‘Scan’ button. After this, it will automatically detect the corrupted PST files and will repair them as well.
